directions and accommodations
Boston is many many wonderful things, but a great city for driving it is not.
Thus, we recommend strongly that when you choose a hotel, you choose one near a
metro line (we call it the "T").

We put wedding locations in blue, hotel suggestions in red, and points of interest
in orange.
Note: We really have no idea about hotels, so you may want to do further research.
using public transit
Our apartment is close to the "Stony Brook" stop on the Orange line. Take the Orange
line outbound toward Forest Hills, and get off at the Stony Brook stop. Walk out the
doors of the station, and take a left (you're on Boylston st.). At Amory street, take
a right. When you get to the parking lot for the Brewery Complex (about one block),
go into the lot. Exit out the back of the lot, and head straight up that street until
you run into our house. It's the one at the end of that street.
tips
- MBTA.com - They have travel tips, a "trip planner",
really just about everything you need to know for getting around Boston.
- train tips - they run about every five minutes during rush hours, but are
extremely crowded. you'll have to stand during rush hour. during the rest of
the day (6AM-12:30AM), the trains run about every 15 minutes and aren't that
crowded. 2$/ride unless you buy a weekly/combo card.
- cab tips - base fare of $2.75 plus 30c per 1/8th mile. for example, boston
common to our house is ~$20 including tip. tip about 10% - keep in mind that
there are lots of tolls on the way from the airport (not to) that will make
your fare higher. cash only. all the cab companies in boston work through one
number - 617.242.8000.
- airport tips - cabs are easy and expensive from the airport. you have two
options if you want to take trains - the silver line is an underground bus
that picks you up at the terminal and links you with the red line trains. there is
also a shuttle that picks up at the terminal and takes you to the blue line. donald
recommends the blue line shuttle. sara thinks they take the same amount of time.
